National Rhododendron Gardens Vic.

After the falls i visited the national rhododendron gardens at Olinda. 104 acres and over 4 km of track. The are just starting to come out. The cherry trees are almost out.

Visited the Olinda falls yesterday. More like cascades than big falls. Still quite picturesque. This is the upper falls. The lower are bigger and more impressive but i forgot to get a bloggable photo.

Sentosa

Sentosa _ Today we took our first organised tour and went to the island of Sentosa. Here there is so much to do we had to choose carefully. We wanted to see the night show this time as we missed it lastime. Really good time but completely worn out by tbe time it finished. We'll show you the photos when we get home. Off to little india today

OK some of the photos below.

This is a ride at Sentosa. Slow to the top and drop to the bottom.

.
Donna and the Merlion at Sentosa.
This is part of the dolphin show at Sentosa. As you can see they are pink dolphins.
The light show at Sentosa is spectacular. They have spent a small fortune, I heard someone say about $30mil USD on it. It is fantastic though.

last day in Singapore

OK. Doesn't looklike any of the posts I have been sending via email or phone have been getting through. So justt to finish today - We went down to Clarke Quay this morning and took a bum boat ride along the river. 30 minute trip. Interesting and learn a liuttle about the history. It was very relaxing as it was a nice cool breeze the whole way.
This morning it was around 35c by 10 am and has stayed there nearly all day. This is pretty much normal. It starts hot but sort of dry and then by around 3 pm the humidity has grown to about 90% and there is no breeze. It is very draining to wlk around but you do it, just very slowly. It is a relatively small city and easy to wlk around.
This afternoon we walked through little India after a taking a tour around Canning Park.

I'll tryand see where the other posts got to.

Day 6 - Tambourine

These are now out of order but at least the text is there. After 4 visits for mum and 2 for me we finally got the van registered in both names. Unbelievable how hard main roads can make it. To celebrate we headed off to Mt Tambourine. I decided to shout mum lunch and take her on the Skywalk through the tree tops. The Skywalk had just opened and is a fairly easy 45 minute walk. Nothing real steep and looking through the trees from about 30 metres up is breathtaking. The "flyover" (I think that is what they called it) is great and a little scary as it is pivoted and does move quite a bit.

On the way up we had morning tea at a macadamia nut farm. Donna, I have treats.

Day 9 - The trip Home

Sorry for not posting but I have been without internet access for most of last week. I even tried Macdonalds but no joy. Anyway today is the start of the trip home. First time towing a caravan is exciting and nerve racking if you have never towed anything before. So far everything has gone fairly smooth. I had morning tea at the foot of the range just before Toowoomba at Withcott. I figured I had got that far and the real test would be the range. Suffice to say I made it. The Sante Fe pulled the caravan up the range pretty well. I won't say easily but without a hitch.
I proceeded through Toowoomba and on to Goondiwindi via Millmerren. I like Millmerren, it has a couple of parks to choose from both with facilities and just has a really pleasant ambience about. Probably all the murals on almost all of the public buildings.
At Goondi I stopped and topped up the car, only needed a little over half a tank but was thinking about making it to Narrabri so topped up. Also it is a good size Caltex that caters for trucks so easily accommodated me.
Eventually decided to stay in Moree instead. It has artesian spas and event he carvan park I am staying at has has artesian spa pools to swim in, in addtion to the normal pool. I say that because 2 idiots got into the spa pools and went on about it was hot water and not good to swim in. DUH.
So tonight is night 1 in the van. I hope I have it set up correctly. I followed all the cheat sheets and mum's instructions so here goes.

I have photos of some of the earlier days so will try to post them when I can. With a bit of luck I will be able to post again tomorrow night.

Cheers.

Day 3 morning tea.
A handy park in the pretty town of kyogle. It has all facilities and tables are under cover. Amenities are clean as they part of the information center.
From Kyogle I drove up to Brisbane via the Lions Rd between Kyogle and Rathdowney. I will post my photos of the border loop. The road is tight and winding through the mountains and follows the rail line. The loop is where the train line swtiches back on itself and loops the mountain and is just about on the border between NSW and Vic. There is a lookout where you can watch the train if you are lucky enough.
From there I went via Beaudesert to Beenleigh and then finally to Bris. Made just in time for lunch thanks to daylight savings.

Day 2 - I've stopped for the night at Grafton. I travelled via the "Waterfalls Way" from Armidale to Coffs Harbour. Then I turned off and run up the middle via Tyringham. This is one tight and very winding road. I finally got to work the SanteFe in manual mode and I worked it pretty hard. Heaps of tight hairpins and working it from 2nd to 5th back and forth. 14 Kilometers up the hill and then another 14 down. As you crest the top the views are spectacular. Not that you get much time for them as a corner comes up very quickly. A truly fun road.
Day 2 - Lunch
Stopped at Uralla for lunch. I found this great park off the main street and down by the river. It has all facilites and the gardens are good. I'll post pictuer later.
Day 2 - Just before Dunedoo, up from Dubbo, I came across this sign. The sign says it all. I'll add this later.

Day 2 Morning tea today is a Gunnedah. Drove up from Dubbo through Dunedoo. The road from Dubbo to Dunedoo is a very good one. Only realised that we'd been there when I got half way through it. That's because last time we came in the other way. Drove up to Gunnedah via Coolah and Mullaley. Not a bad run.

Gunnedah itself is a pretty place. Not much in the way of bakeries in the main street though. This park is a great place and right next to the main street.

Day 1 Lunch - West Wyalong
Yes I had it in the park with the plane. There was market/carnival going on the usual place.

morning tea at Finley.. At the rsl park
This a very nice park opposite the main shopping strip of Finley. It has all facilities and is filled with roses. The smell of them was intoxicating while I was having morning tea. I got some scones from the bakery across the road.
