Old posts

Sorry if a bunch of older posts just came through. They must have been sitting in my outbox or something, I'm not sure what happened but I noticed several saying posted when I thought they had some time ago.

Melbourne ACO Virtual and the Eltham Jazz and Food Festival.

On Saturday Donna and I attended and experienced an unusual classical event. The Aust Chamber Orchestra have dreated whatis called the ACO Virtual. It is seven screens with up to 13 players at a time surrounding the audience. All the music and visuals were recorded individually and the session is interactive. What it means is that via a control panel in the centre of the room individualnpllayers can be highlighted and brought into prominance so that they are the main instrument heard. Or if you want you can turn the 13 players into a 4 piece quartet. The music completely surrounds you and seems to come from each  player . It is probably the closest thing that us mere mortls will ever get to hearing an orchestra from the conductors vantage point. It is something to be experienced.

Later on Saturday night we headed off for something completely different, The Eltham Jazz and Food Festival. It is held on 3 small stages in the he township of Eltham and is free for everyone. They had some good bands including a very good swing band The Pearly Shells.
