Nagambie

Donna and I decided it was a good day to go for a drive. The weather in Melbourne was doing it's usual cloudy occasional patch of rain thing. So we headed up towards Murchison and Rushworth. I had seen some properties up that way near a lake and neither of us remember driving around the lake.

It's actually know as the Waranga Basin and it is quite large. There is boating on it and fishing. It is a lot drier than down Beaufort way probably because it is on the other side of the range.

As usual when near Rushworth we stopped in for lunch at the bakery. This bakery has won heaps of awards for their foods and it deserves them all. We had salad rolls which were fresh and filling.

On the way back we went for a short trip around the lake at Nagambie and came across this really strange little bridge at Kirwans Bridge. It has a bend in the middle and is only one lane wide with little areas for one car to pull into should a car come in the other direction. If you look closely you can see one of the pull in areas on the left just before the bend.
On the left of the bridge you can see where the rest of the bridge used to be and they have left the pylons in place but removed the top. How's that for economising!
